Tesla is gearing up to release its biggest Full Self-Driving update in years. Elon Musk said FSD V14 will start reaching early testers next week, while regular owners should not expect it before mid-November.The new build promises a tenfold increase in parameters compared with FSD V13.2.9, which should make the system noticeably smoother, more precise, and better at accounting for more variables. That added complexity also means FSD V14 will not run on older cars with HW3 hardware, which have remained on FSD V12.6.4 since February. It’s a tough cutoff for those vehicles, but it underlines how demanding the software has become.FSD V14 is expected to bring over features trialed on Robotaxi prototypes, including improved video processing quality and reduced data loss. Musk describes this release as second in importance only to V12, the version that unified the highway and city stacks. If the promises hold, day-to-day driving should feel more natural.Tesla plans a phased rollout: version 14.0 next week for employees, 14.1 two weeks later, and 14.2 with further refinements. Musk also said that by 14.2 the car would feel almost like a sentient being. Ambitious talk aside, the meaningful test will be tangible gains in safety and ease of use, and any easing of driver-attention monitoring will depend on regulatory approval. The stepped approach looks sensible given the scope of change.
