Hyundai Santa Fe EREV 2027: Range, Launch Date and What Else Is Coming

Seven vehicle launches in the next eight months — that’s the pace Hyundai has set with its updated roadmap. The company has confirmed the new Elantra, IONIQ 3, Tucson and Tucson Hybrid, the first Santa Fe EREV, and several more compact SUVs for different markets. Overall, more than 100 launches and updates are planned through 2030, though that figure doesn’t mean 100 entirely new models.

The most substantial news concerns the Santa Fe EREV. The crossover will arrive in the first half of 2027 and is expected to deliver more than 600 miles, or over 965 km, of combined range. Production will be based at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama in the United States. The EREV format runs on electric power at all times, while the combustion engine recharges the battery and reduces dependence on charging infrastructure.

Notably, the 600-mile mark itself isn’t new: Hyundai first mentioned it back in its 2025 strategy, alongside a target of selling 5.55 million vehicles by 2030. What’s new today is that the company has substantially fleshed out the program — naming the Santa Fe, the production site and the launch window.

The powertrain now has a technical explanation to go with it. Hyundai says its new proprietary cells deliver more than double the power output compared with previous high-nickel cells, while charging time has been cut by 40%. In the EREV, the battery is expected to carry less than half the capacity of a comparable pure EV’s pack. For future EVs, the company is also developing mid-nickel NCM cells roughly 30% cheaper, and a cloud-based BMS is expected to extend average battery lifespan by 20% by 2028.

Part of the product plan is already turning into production vehicles. The IONIQ 3 has entered production in Turkey, while the next-generation Tucson has already revealed its larger dimensions and a 2,785 mm wheelbase. Back in June, an early list of Hyundai’s upcoming models already included the Elantra, IONIQ 3, Tucson and Santa Fe EREV, but the timing and some of the specs have now been confirmed by the company itself.

The next checkpoint is the fourth quarter of 2026, when Hyundai plans to bring the new Tucson and Tucson Hybrid to their first markets. The Santa Fe EREV should follow in the first half of 2027. These are the dates that turn a sprawling strategy through 2030 into an already fairly concrete model timeline.
