BMW X2 sDrive20i Original 2026: price in Japan and what you get for less

BMW Japan has added a new sDrive20i Original trim priced at 5.5 million yen, undercutting the M Sport version by 7.1% while keeping the same 170-hp mild-hybrid powertrain.

BMW has cut the entry price of the X2 on the Japanese market without touching the powertrain. The new sDrive20i Original trim is priced at 5.5 million yen. For comparison, the sDrive20i M Sport costs 5.92 million yen. The difference is 420,000 yen, or about 7.1%.

The savings come from a leaner standard equipment list, but BMW kept the key electronics in place. The Original trim still includes navigation, the Driving Assistant suite, Digital Key Plus, a 360-degree camera system, the built-in BMW Drive Recorder, and the Intelligent Personal Assistant voice control.

The hardware hasn’t been simplified either. The X2 sDrive20i uses a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Combined output is 170 hp and 280 Nm of torque, with fuel consumption on the Japanese WLTC cycle rated at 15.6 km/L, or roughly 6.4 L/100 km. These are the same figures BMW quoted when the sDrive20i M Sport launched in spring 2026.

Orders for the X2 sDrive20i Original in Japan opened on August 26, with first deliveries expected from September. BMW hasn’t introduced a separate technical variant here — it has simply made the existing gasoline X2 more affordable with a more restrained base specification.
