smart #2 2026: Sennheiser audio system and seven-speaker setup

smart has revealed another detail of the new electric #2 ahead of the model’s world premiere. Selected versions of the two-seat city EV will be offered with a seven-speaker Sennheiser audio system. In other words, it will not be standard equipment across the entire smart #2 range.

The system was developed with the car’s compact cabin in mind. It uses the Sennheiser Contrabass algorithm, while the driver can choose from three bass levels and three sound profiles — Studio, Live and Vocal. The manufacturer promises a spacious, immersive soundstage, although there are no independent comparative tests of the system yet.

The smart #2 itself will be a modern interpretation of the brand’s classic two-seat city car and will be fully electric. The production car continues testing and is undergoing EU homologation. smart therefore notes separately that the published specifications may still change.

The world premiere of the smart #2 is scheduled for October 12, 2026, at the Paris Motor Show. That is when the more important questions will concern not the number of speakers but range, battery specifications, power output and pricing — details the manufacturer has not disclosed in its latest release.
