Ford has announced a recall covering 59,006 vehicles in the United States after identifying a potential fire risk. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the engine block heater can crack and cause a coolant leak, which may result in a short circuit and a fire in the engine bay.

The action spans several of the brand’s key models, including the Lincoln MKC, Explorer, Fusion, Bronco Sport, and Maverick. The agency specified that the defect appears only on vehicles equipped with the engine heating system.

NHTSA data indicates that Ford has not recorded any fires, injuries, or crashes linked to the issue so far. Even so, the company has initiated a voluntary recall and is preparing to replace the defective parts—a measured, early step that addresses the risk before any incidents occur.
