A production-intent prototype of the Denza Z electric sports car, developed under BYD’s Denza sub-brand, has been spotted at the legendary Nürburgring. After a striking concept debut at the Shanghai auto show in April, the model is now testing in Germany and is expected to reach the European market as well—evidence that this project aims beyond show-floor spectacle.

The production car mirrors the concept almost entirely, with an aggressive aero package, sizable spoilers front and rear, and distinctive LED headlights. Broad wheels wrapped in Giti Sport GTR3 tires—275 mm at the front and 325 mm at the rear—underscore its performance intent and hint that grip takes precedence over flash.

Inside, Denza’s signature look remains: a square, floating infotainment display, a digital instrument cluster, and advanced entertainment features. The passenger-facing screen has been dropped to cut weight, a choice that suggests engineering discipline over gadget count.

Technical details have not yet been disclosed. According to the concept, the Denza Z features an electric motor with up to 400 kW (544 hp), sprints from 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and incorporates a suite of high-tech systems including steer-by-wire, YunNian-M suspension, and the e-Platform 3.0 chassis. If those elements carry over, the hardware should speak for itself.

Experts expect the Denza Z to be a more attainable electric sports car than the flagship Yangwang U9 and to compete directly with the upcoming Porsche 718 EV—one to watch.
