Chevrolet is keeping the gas-powered Blazer alive beyond 2025, reversing earlier plans to discontinue it. Orders for the 2026 model will open in late August 2025. The order guide drops on August 18, dealer entries begin August 21, pricing lands August 22, and the first order cycle kicks off August 28.
Production starts October 8, 2025, at GM’s Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico — the same facility that builds the Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Cadillac Optiq, and Honda Prologue. That makes the Blazer the only ICE model on the line. Under the hood, nothing changes: buyers will get either the turbocharged 2.0L I4 or the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6, both riding on GM’s C1 platform.
Extending the ICE Blazer fits GM’s new strategy of balancing EV growth with steady demand for gasoline-powered SUVs. From my perspective, keeping this option in the lineup makes sense for buyers who still want the familiarity and proven performance of a traditional engine. A refreshed ICE Blazer is expected for 2027, with production moving to Spring Hill, Tennessee.
