Car shoppers today look closely at reliability—vehicles have become expensive purchases. For many, it’s the deciding factor, since repair and maintenance bills can pile up and turn into unwelcome surprises.

A 2025 study by the well-known American outlet Consumer Reports found that the Korean premium sedan Genesis G70 earned an exceptionally low reliability score among all vehicles tested. The model received just 29 points out of a possible 100, placing it among the least dependable cars on the market.

The G70, positioned by the manufacturer as a premium offering, has repeatedly drawn public attention because of widespread recalls and faults. Among the most serious issues are electrical failures that can lead to engine overheating, engine oil leaks that raise a fire risk and shorten powertrain life, and fuel pump defects that manifest as loss of power with the potential for the engine to shut down while the car is in motion.

Owners also note several significant ergonomic drawbacks. The rear seats are too tight and uncomfortable even for average-height passengers; the braking system doesn’t feel sufficiently effective, adding unease during hard stops; and the trunk offers limited space, making it difficult to carry bulky items.

As a result, despite its price tag and premium positioning, the Genesis G70 falls short of what buyers expect, running into serious technical troubles and a host of day-to-day inconveniences. When a luxury badge promises polish, shortcomings of this kind tend to overshadow the rest.
