Kia is bringing the EV2—the brand’s smallest electric crossover—into the home stretch after its earlier outing as a namesake concept. The production version is slated to be unveiled on January 9, 2026 at the Brussels Motor Show, a day before the doors open to the public (January 10–18). Kia Europe underscores that the model was conceived specifically for the region: development and future assembly are anchored in Europe, and the EV2 is positioned as central to the brand’s idea of responsible mobility.

Early photos and prototypes suggest the design stays close to the concept: familiar proportions, a truncated front end, and squared-off surfacing. Real-world constraints, however, bring tweaks. The production car likely adopts a longer front overhang—a typical response to crash‑test requirements. The show car’s flashier flourishes have been toned down: the pillars look more conventional, and technically the EV2 is expected to be simpler than the brand’s pricier EVs. For a Europe-first brief, that restraint feels sensible.

The main compromise is a 400‑volt platform (instead of the 800‑volt systems used in more expensive models) and a single front motor, so no all‑wheel drive. In essence, it’s a city‑minded B‑segment crossover: less about headline acceleration and more about everyday routes and sensible running costs. As a reference point, the related Hyundai Inster is cited with 39‑ or 46‑kWh batteries and up to 113 hp, so the EV2 will likely keep its specs measured. Even so, an expected range of over 320 km looks like a logical target for a compact electric crossover tailored to European use.
