The 2027 Nissan Versa has effectively been revealed ahead of its official debut: in Mexico, the sedan was caught without camouflage during a promo shoot. That usually signals a premiere is near, potentially a matter of weeks.

The images suggest Nissan chose a deep refresh over a clean-sheet redesign. The profile, roofline, and glazing look familiar, indicating the basic architecture of the current generation remains in place. That model has been on sale since 2019 and was updated in 2022. Up front, however, the makeover is far bolder: there is split LED lighting linked by a black trim strip and a more mature look that aligns with the brand’s larger models. The grille is narrower, the lower air intake stretches wider, and judging by the shapes, the hood and front fenders may carry over.

The rear sees fewer changes but they read clearly: new taillights, a slightly reworked trunk lid with a large Versa script, and the license plate moved lower into the bumper area. Fresh wheel designs also appear, a small but meaningful lift to the car’s visual freshness in this segment. Taken together, these tweaks aim to sharpen the first impression without hiking complexity.

Under the skin, major hardware shifts are not expected. The Nissan V platform, related to the previous Kicks, should continue, and a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter engine will likely remain under the hood. With the manual already gone from the current version, a focus on a CVT makes sense for everyday urban use and cost control.

Production is planned for the Aguascalientes plant, while the older CIVAC facility is slated to close by March 2026. As for markets, a Latin America–only strategy is possible at launch, though if demand for affordable cars grows, Nissan may revisit the idea of offering the Versa in the United States.
