Ford recalls 679 U.S. 2025 SUVs and pickups over a Bosch module fault that can cut electric brake assist. Free dealer fix; owner letters expected January 2026.

Ford has announced a recall in the United States for a limited batch of 2025-model SUVs and pickups over a potential loss of electric brake assist. The issue traces back to a Bosch electronic module: a manufacturing error in the integrated circuit can push the unit into a fail-safe mode, causing the booster for the front hydraulic brakes to switch off unexpectedly.

When that happens, the system automatically applies the electric parking brake on the rear axle, and a cluster of warnings lights up on the instrument panel. To restore brake assist, the module must complete a full sleep cycle, which means part of the trip the driver is left without the usual light pedal effort. The change in brake feel can be abrupt, so the scenario is more unsettling than it is dramatic.

The campaign covers 679 vehicles: Ford Ranger and Bronco built in Michigan, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator from Kentucky, and F-150 trucks from the Dearborn and Kansas City plants. The F-150 Lightning electric pickup is not included in the recall.

Owners will receive letters between January 26 and 30, 2026. Dealers will replace the affected modules with correctly manufactured brake boosters at no charge. Until the service visit, Ford advises staying alert to dashboard indicators and, if warnings appear, avoiding aggressive driving. The remedy is straightforward, and the scope is modest, but the advice to ease off makes practical sense.
