Porsche has its own way to “rewind the clock” — through the Sonderwunsch division and Factory Re-Commission projects. The idea is simple but costly: the car is stripped down, restored, and documented as being returned to a zero‑kilometer state. That’s exactly what happened to a 20-year-old Carrera GT: mechanically, the supercar has been brought back to something very close to its factory 2005 specification.Visually, though, it’s no longer the same car that once left the Leipzig line. The owner asked to swap the original silver paint for a racing livery inspired by the Porsche 917 that won Le Mans in 1970. The number 23 appears, along with matte-black carbon accents, dark grilles on the engine cover, and black wheels — all to sharpen the contrast with the red-and-white theme. The body is wrapped in protective film, a clear hint that this GT is destined for real miles rather than glass-box stasis. The cabin was rebuilt as well: generous red Alcantara now covers the dashboard, doors, steering wheel, and center console, while select elements adopt materials that tie the project to the 918 Spyder. Even the front trunk follows the same theme and is complemented by color-matched luggage.Porsche produced just 1,270 Carrera GTs, and each has long since become a symbol of its era. This example, however, stands out in a way that feels genuinely personal.
