Tesla plans to increase output at its Grünheide plant outside Berlin. Plant head Andre Thierig told DPA the company is seeing stronger sales and has revised its plans for the second half of 2025 upward. The adjustment reads as a move to stay ahead of shifting demand rather than react to it.

He said the team was seeing very strong sales figures and had therefore raised production for the third and fourth quarters of 2025.

Germany remains a difficult market for Tesla. Competition from Chinese automakers is intensifying, and analysts believe Elon Musk’s political activity may have affected demand. According to the KBA, Tesla’s July sales in Germany fell by more than half year on year, to 1,110 cars. Over the first seven months, the decline was nearly 58%. The headwinds are real and largely external to the factory floor.

Even so, Thierig emphasized that the positive momentum is visible not only in Germany but also in other markets supplied by the plant. Today the factory near Berlin serves more than 30 countries, and that broad export footprint helps offset local dips. In practice, the export mix works like a shock absorber when the home market wobbles.
