Maserati has taken an unprecedented step in the US, offering discounts of up to $85,000 (around €78,200) on its Folgore electric model lineup. The reason is straightforward: sales are nearly nonexistent, and inventory of 2025 vehicles is rapidly accumulating. An internal company document confirms the launch of the Folgore EV Assistance Cash program, aimed at clearing dealer lots as quickly as possible.

The biggest savings apply to the GranTurismo Folgore. Starting at $199,690, a 43% reduction drastically shifts the model's positioning, bringing its price almost in line with its gasoline counterpart. The GranCabrio Folgore sees a 41% cut from its original price, while the Grecale Folgore crossover drops by about 33%, closely matching the cost of the base gasoline version. For buyers, switching from an internal combustion engine to an EV within the brand now comes down to a difference of just a few thousand dollars.

However, this aggressive pricing move reflects product challenges rather than strategic generosity. With a range of 447–580 km on the WLTP cycle and charging power up to 150 kW, the Folgore models appear modest compared to premium segment competitors. At a high price point, they fall short in efficiency and real-world usability, which explains the weak demand.

Maserati had already implemented significant incentives in the fall, but the current discounts are record-breaking. Clearly, the brand is winding down the 2025 model year, making room for updates, while acknowledging that premium electric vehicles must better align with buyer expectations. The key question now is whether these discounts will clear out inventory or if even more drastic measures will be needed.
