Toyota has confirmed that the current GR Supra will soon disappear from Australian showrooms. Orders will close by the end of August 2025, with production scheduled to wrap up in early 2026. The farewell edition for Australia will be the Track Edition, equipped with revised suspension, aerodynamic tweaks, and upgraded brakes. Europe and Japan will see a more hardcore Final Edition, but Australian enthusiasts won’t have access to it.
Since its relaunch in 2019, around 1400 Supras have been sold in Australia — a solid result for a niche sports car. Toyota insists that this is not the end of the story. Reports from Japan suggest a new generation is in the works, featuring a four-cylinder turbo-hybrid engine. That aligns with the broader trend for 2025 cars, where efficiency and hybrid technology are becoming key in deciding which car is better to buy.
On the track, Supra’s future looks even brighter. The coupe is set to join Australia’s Supercars Championship in 2026, racing against Chevrolet Camaros and Ford Mustangs. The Supra’s current chapter may be closing, but its racing spirit ensures the legend will continue. From my perspective, its farewell feels bittersweet: the car proved itself on the road, yet its most exciting years might still lie ahead on the circuit.
