According to newly filed regulatory documents, the six-seat Model Y L will soon go on sale in South Korea. The long-wheelbase configuration, already popular in China, has received energy efficiency certification from the Korean Energy Agency, paving the way for deliveries to begin in the first half of 2026.

The Model Y L is built at Tesla's Shanghai factory, making it an ideal candidate for Asian markets as well as Europe, since this plant has previously served as an export hub.

On the same day the certification was revealed, a camouflaged Model Y L prototype was spotted on Korean roads. Tesla has already secured similar approvals in Australia and New Zealand, with both markets expecting the larger Model Y to arrive in 2026.

Compared to the standard Model Y, the L version features a wheelbase extended by approximately 150 mm, while overall length increases by about 177 mm to 4976 mm. This allows for a true 2-2-2 layout, providing six adult passengers with ample legroom and cargo space. The result is a genuine family vehicle without the cramped third row found in many three-row SUVs.

South Korean documents indicate this is an all-wheel-drive imported electric vehicle with a total battery capacity of 97.25 kWh from LG Energy Solution. Local testing showed a range of 543 km (337 miles) under standard conditions and 454 km (282 miles) in colder weather, addressing one of the primary concerns among Korean EV buyers.
