Porsche is continuing development of a new gasoline-powered crossover that will replace the previous internal combustion engine Macan. A prototype of the model was recently spotted during road tests, though it externally resembles an Audi Q5.

In reality, this is a test mule: the Audi body is used only for camouflage. The vehicle features widened wheel arches and increased ground clearance, suggesting a different character for the model.

The future Porsche crossover will be built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), developed by the Volkswagen Group. This architecture is already used by the new Audi Q5 and allows for both traditional gasoline engines and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The car is expected to feature turbocharged four-cylinder engines and a V6, along with a hybrid system. This is hinted at by special markings on the prototype indicating the presence of an electric component in the powertrain.

The model's debut is expected no earlier than 2028. Porsche may abandon the Macan name for the gasoline version, reserving it exclusively for the electric crossover. Other names are being considered for the new model, including Cajun and Octan, which have been mentioned before.
