Chevrolet has unveiled significant changes for the base Corvette Stingray. The LT2 engine is being phased out, replaced by the next-generation 6.7-liter V8 LS6 as the standard powerplant for Stingray, Grand Sport, and Grand Sport X models.For the base Stingray, this translates to a radical shift in capabilities. The naturally aspirated engine now delivers 535 horsepower, with a compression ratio reaching 13.0:1.The LS6 isn't just dropped into the Stingray's engine bay. Engineers have applied lessons from top-tier variants to the base model. The available Z51 Performance Package includes a 5.56:1 final-drive ratio, which sharpens throttle response immediately. Newly developed Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires are mounted on offset wheels, while updated aerodynamics make the car more track-ready. For the first time in the mid-engine era, Stingray buyers can opt for a center-exit exhaust system, borrowing visual and acoustic cues from higher-performance sports car models.The color palette for the 2027 Corvette Stingray sees the return of Admiral Blue metallic, a hue associated with the Grand Sport line, while Pitch Grey Metallic is introduced as a new option.
