BYD’s flagship Leopard 8 made its debut at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show, becoming the first model to run Huawei’s HiCar 6.0 infotainment suite. The system mirrors a smartphone in both landscape and portrait, and syncs navigation, streaming media, and driving data. An OTA update for the Leopard 8 is slated for late 2025. Inside, the cabin leans into premium materials and is clearly tailored around HiCar, while the exterior mixes blocky, purposeful proportions with crisp LED signatures—an approach that gives it presence without drifting into excess.Alongside the regular version, Yangwang unveiled the U8L Dingshi Edition—an extended-wheelbase take on the luxury SUV that is already open for pre-order at 130,000 yuan (around 1.5 million rubles). The wheelbase stretches to 3,250 mm, adding 200 mm over the standard U8, with overall length at 5,400 mm and width at 2,049 mm. For the first time, buyers can spec 24K gold badges and exclusive 23-inch forged wheels—details that underline the model’s push for opulence. The cabin adopts a six-seat layout, with “zero-gravity” chairs in the second row, side control panels, and individual fold-out tables. Two interior themes are offered—purple-gray and black-brown—blending natural wood with top-grade leather. A standout touch is the ceiling-mounted projection screen for second-row passengers in place of the usual seatback tablets, a neat solution that keeps the seatbacks clean and the lounge vibe intact.Technologically, the U8L Dingshi Edition retains the “God’s Eye A” suite with triple lidar and advanced driver assists, including urban and highway autopilot, automated parking, and a valet-parking function. Off-road systems feature Easy Four-way Parking and Yunnian-P, enabling the vehicle to keep moving with a puncture, pivot on the spot, and even stay afloat if flooded—an ambitious mix of city smarts and expedition tricks. The powertrain uses a 2.0T engine as a generator paired with four electric motors. Combined output is rated at 880 kW (1,197 hp), with 1,280 Nm of torque. Suspension is double-wishbone front and rear, and the setup is complemented by center and cross-axle differential locks. On paper, the numbers are formidable and align with the SUV’s flagship brief.
