The Genesis GV60 Magma has become the brand’s first high-performance model and has already entered the pre-order phase in Canada. Built on the E-GMP platform, the electric crossover develops up to 641 hp, placing it directly against BMW, Audi and Mercedes in the premium EV segment.

The new model uses the same architecture as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Kia EV6 GT, but sits higher in the hierarchy as a premium product focused on performance. Combined output from the two electric motors reaches 448 kW (601 hp), rising to 478 kW (641 hp) and 790 Nm in Boost mode.

With Launch Control, the crossover accelerates to 200 km/h in just 10.9 seconds, while top speed reaches 264 km/h — figures more commonly associated with sports models.

The Magma version is part of Genesis’ strategy to evolve into a premium brand with a high-performance line-up. By 2030, the company plans to introduce more than 20 new models in North America, sharpening its rivalry with German marques. Canada’s role as the first launch market is significant, underlining the region’s importance in the brand’s global expansion.

Deliveries of the GV60 Magma will begin before the end of 2026, with pricing to be announced closer to the start of sales. Even now, the model shows how competition in the electric car segment is shifting toward power and technology.

For the market, the message is clear: premium Asian brands are no longer merely catching up. They are starting to set the pace, especially in the niche for high-performance electric vehicles.
