Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) has announced a recall of 20,271 electric vehicles from the 2024–2025 model years: the Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona EV. The issue is a software fault that can cause the instrument panel cluster (IPC) to fail and prevent mandatory telltales from appearing. The recall covers 11,743 Wagoneer S vehicles built from March 2024 to November 2025 and 8,528 Charger EVs built from April 2024 to April 2025.

Because of the software error, the instrument panel may fail to display critical warnings and indicators, including the BRAKE warning, the ESC stability-control indicator, the tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning and the selected gear display.

That creates a compliance issue with several FMVSS requirements, including Nos. 108 and 208. Without visual warnings, a vehicle could be driven in an unsafe condition without the driver being alerted.

The fault is linked to the instrument panel cluster software, supplied by Valeo North America. The manufacturer has acknowledged that the defect may be present across the entire affected vehicle population. The recall decision was made on April 16, 2026.

Dealers will update the instrument panel software free of charge. Vehicle VINs will be available for checking from April 30, 2026, and owner notifications are scheduled to begin on May 21, 2026.

This is not a mechanical failure, but a digital fault affecting core safety systems. In modern electric vehicles, the instrument panel is the driver’s main interface with the car. If it stops showing warnings for the brake system, stability control or tire pressure, the risk of a crash can rise without any obvious external sign of a problem.
