Tesla has announced a major milestone for its FSD Supervised system in Australia and New Zealand. In less than two weeks since launch, owners have driven more than 1 million kilometers with the software enabled. The company says users are covering about 80,000 kilometers per day on average. For context, that’s roughly the same as 67 laps around Australia or 625 trips from Auckland to Invercargill. The early mileage hints at strong curiosity to put the technology to work in real conditions.Public access began on September 18, making Australia the first right-hand-drive market to receive the Supervised version. Even though a large share of Tesla vehicles in the region run on Hardware 3—which doesn’t support the latest FSD updates—interest from owners has remained high. That tension between capability and curiosity is telling: the pull of advanced driver assistance is clearly outpacing hardware cycles. The company is also preparing a subscription for FSD Supervised, priced at 149 dollars in Australia and 159 dollars in New Zealand. This approach lowers the upfront barrier for drivers who don’t want to pay for the system outright, and for shoppers considering new 2025 models, it could be a timely nudge toward a Tesla EV.
