Geely Monjaro EM-i 2026: global launch, UK plans and what's still unknown

Europe’s version of the Geely Monjaro EM-i comes with an important catch: the 313 hp figure once expected for it hasn’t been confirmed. In its official announcement, Geely describes the new global D-SUV as riding on the GEA Evo architecture with the EM-i Super Hybrid system and e-AWD electric all-wheel drive, but exact power, battery size and electric range haven’t been disclosed. The global rollout begins in Egypt in late August, with other markets to follow.

Europe is genuinely part of the plan. British outlets Auto Express and Autocar have had UK market entry confirmed for the Monjaro, though a specific timeline hasn’t been announced yet. That’s why a 2027 start should be treated as an estimate rather than an official date for Europe as a whole.

The technical shift matters more than the geography. Earlier this year, the future European Monjaro was linked to a 313 hp i-HEV setup on the CMA platform — that was the previous stage of the project. Geely now officially cites GEA Evo, the GEEA 3.0 electronic architecture, EM-i Super Hybrid and e-AWD. Exact power and efficiency figures, however, haven’t been released yet.

The car is also drifting further from the Monjaro familiar in Russia. That current official crossover keeps a 2.0-liter turbo engine rated at 238 hp, a conventional 8-speed automatic and mechanical all-wheel drive. The export EM-i, by contrast, is built around an electrified architecture and the new e-AWD system.

This isn’t Geely’s first PHEV for Europe: the brand has already brought the Starray EM-i there, including a launch in Spain. The Monjaro is meant to sit a notch above it as a larger hybrid flagship. Comparing it to the Kodiaq, the 5008 or other D-SUVs on price and power is premature, though — European homologation and final specifications haven’t been published yet.

So the next genuinely important Monjaro EM-i story won’t be another confirmation that it’s coming to Europe — it’ll be the European spec sheet. That should answer three still-open questions: how much power the hybrid system produces, what battery pairs with the e-AWD system, and what range gets certified under WLTP.
