Volkswagen will unveil the concept of its new entry-level electric SUV, the ID.2 X, at the upcoming IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich. Positioned as an affordable B-segment crossover, the ID.2 X will serve as the electric counterpart to the popular T-Cross.
According to Volkswagen’s Head of Technical Development, Kai Grünitz, the ID.2 X prototype sets new standards for design, quality, and space in its class. The production version is expected to launch in 2026, with pricing starting below €30,000 before incentives.
The ID.2 X shares Volkswagen Group’s updated MEB+ front-wheel-drive platform with the Skoda Epiq, Cupra Raval, and future ID.1 and ID.2 models. Measuring around 4.1 meters, the crossover targets urban SUV buyers with an efficient electric option.
Buyers will be able to choose between two batteries: a 38 kWh LFP pack and a 56 kWh NCM unit, offering up to 400 km of WLTP range. Fast charging capability of up to 125 kW will allow a 10–80% recharge in about 20 minutes. A more powerful version with 226 hp (166 kW) will also be available.
With the ID.2 X, Volkswagen is doubling down on its commitment to affordable EVs, aiming to capture a growing share of Europe’s compact crossover market.
