General Motors has ended in-car app support for vehicles equipped with NGI (Next Generation Infotainment) systems built from 2017 to 2020. As of September 30, 2025, the company’s online catalog for downloading and updating software is no longer operational.Previously installed apps will continue to run until an owner removes them or performs a factory reset. After that, access cannot be restored because the app store servers have been shut down, according to 32CARS.RU.The change affects Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC models produced during that period. Owners of those vehicles will no longer be able to install new apps or receive updates for existing services. In practice, GM is drawing a line under digital support for part of its lineup and shifting focus to newer platforms—Ultifi and Google Automotive Services—which are gradually replacing the aging NGI setups. It’s a clean break that streamlines the company’s software path, even if it leaves many late-2010s dashboards essentially frozen where they are unless left untouched.
