Hyundai Motor has announced a recall of 568,580 Palisade vehicles in the United States because of a flaw in the design of the seat-belt buckle assemblies. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the latches may fail to hold occupants securely in a crash.

The campaign covers model years 2020 through 2025. The issue stems from certain buckle components that were built to the wrong specification. Until the remedy is in place, the agency advises owners to double-check belt engagement: insert the tongue with a quick, straight motion and make sure it locks firmly. Simple as it sounds, that habit can matter when stress levels spike.

Hyundai will offer a free inspection and, if necessary, replace defective buckles at authorized service centers. The move ranks among the brand’s larger U.S. recalls in recent years and highlights regulators’ growing focus on passenger safety. Seat-belt hardware rarely grabs headlines, yet it’s the last line of defense—any doubt about latch integrity warrants a swift fix.
