Gordon Murray Automotive has announced the final approval for production of the T.50s Niki Lauda track hypercar, following successful testing at Bahrain International Circuit. The project's developer and test driver, Dario Franchitti, posted a lap time of 1:53.03, beating the GT3 record set in 2001 by seven seconds.Named in honor of three-time Formula 1 champion Niki Lauda, the model will be a limited series of just 25 units, all of which have already been sold. Production is scheduled to conclude by mid-2026.Based on the road-going T.50, the T.50s features a radically redesigned aerodynamic package. Weighing in at just 890 kg, the hypercar is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.9-liter Cosworth V12 producing 761 horsepower at 11,500 rpm, yielding a specific output of 195 horsepower per liter. Power is delivered through a six-speed Xtrac gearbox with paddle shifters. The aerodynamic package generates up to 1,200 kg of downforce—more than the car's own weight. Braking is handled by Brembo carbon-ceramic discs. During testing, the car achieved a top speed of 269 km/h and lateral g-forces of 2.7 g.Each car is priced at £3.1 million before taxes, which includes race preparation and technical support. The T.50s project illustrates GMA's strategy of creating ultra-limited track machines as a tool for brand-building. Unlike hypercars with hybrid powertrains, the T.50s focuses on a naturally aspirated engine and minimal weight, offering an alternative philosophy in the track hypercar segment.
