Kia has postponed the launch of the 2026 model year EV6 GT in the U.S. "until further notice." The high-performance variant has already been removed from the brand's American online configurator. The reason is deteriorating market conditions. After the cancellation of the $7,500 federal tax credit, sales of the entire EV6 lineup have dropped sharply. In the first two months of the year, only 1,140 EV6 units were sold in the U.S.—less than half of last year's result for the same period. As the most expensive version, the EV6 GT likely saw minimal demand. An additional factor was that the model was imported from South Korea and subject to a 15% import duty. Meanwhile, other EV6 versions assembled in Georgia continue to sell without restrictions. The 2025 version featured an 84 kWh battery, up to 641 horsepower in Launch Mode, and a 0–60 mph time of 3.4 seconds. Pricing started at $65,345.Compact models EV3 and EV4 for the American market have also been delayed.
