Volkswagen has released the first teaser image for the ninth-generation Golf. The picture was unveiled during a production board meeting, and the file name includes the ID designation. This confirms that the electric version will retain the model's legendary name.The new Golf will be built on the Scalable Systems Platform (SSP). The electric ID. Golf won't replace the gasoline model: the traditional Golf, including GTI and R versions, will continue production at least until the start of the next decade.The design will evolve from the current generation with elements from the ID. GTI concept: a sharper light signature, full-width LED optics, and pronounced wheel arches.Production of the current Golf 8.5 will shift from Wolfsburg to Puebla, Mexico. The freed-up capacity in Germany will allow for manufacturing the electric version.Expect a completely refreshed interior with the return of physical buttons and customizable digital instruments.
