Ford has unveiled a new base version of its Explorer crossover—the 2026 Explorer Active 100A. This trim level features simplified equipment, which has lowered the model's starting price. One notable change in this version is the removal of roof rails. While all other civilian Explorer variants include them, the Active 100A does without. Interestingly, this mirrors the Ford Police Interceptor Utility, making the two vehicles' silhouettes appear nearly identical from a distance.Still, the civilian crossover can be distinguished from its police counterpart. The Explorer Active 100A comes with 18-inch Sparkle Silver aluminum wheels. In contrast, the police version uses black steel wheels with chrome center caps, along with a different grille and light bars. The price reduction stems from other adjustments as well. The new base version lacks a power liftgate, opting for manual operation instead. It also features manually adjustable seats and omits the Active badges on the body.
