BMW is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic M3 sports coupe with a special edition of the current M4, called the M4 Coupe M Legacy Edition. This commemorative model will be produced in a strictly limited run of just 40 units.

Available exclusively for the Canadian market, buyers can choose between the standard rear-wheel-drive M4 Coupe and the more powerful, all-wheel-drive M4 Competition Coupe. Mechanically, the cars remain unchanged, as the current M4 already delivers high dynamic performance.

The special edition's main updates are visual. It features unique 826M design wheels with an exclusive gold-bronze finish, familiar from the M4 CS. Buyers can select from three historic BMW M body colors: Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue Metallic, and Imola Red II, all previously used on the brand's legendary sports models. Special M graphics on the hood and trunk lid complete the exterior look.

Inside, the cabin gets a premium treatment with black Merino leather upholstery and a Nappa leather-wrapped instrument panel. The car comes equipped with the M Driver's Package, carbon fiber decorative elements, and an Alcantara-trimmed M steering wheel.

Pricing for the anniversary M4 Coupe M Legacy Edition in Canada starts at around 115,500 Canadian dollars. The version based on the M4 Competition begins at a minimum of 124,500 Canadian dollars. The first vehicles are scheduled to arrive at dealerships in the third quarter of 2026.

BMW has not yet confirmed whether this version will come to the U.S. market. However, the company has previously released limited models first for Canada and later expanded sales to the American market. Therefore, it remains possible that the M4 Legacy Edition could eventually appear beyond Canada.
