Volvo Car USA has announced a recall of 1,584 electric EX30 crossovers from the 2025–2026 model years, including the 2026 EX30 Cross Country variant. According to SPEEDME, the issue stems from non-compliance with the federal safety standard FMVSS No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection." In affected vehicles, the audible seatbelt warning chime may fail to sound.

Documents indicate the problem is linked to a deviation in the supplier's manufacturing process, which could cause unstable contact in the audio module. As a result, the cabin might lack the audible alert for an unfastened seatbelt.

Vehicles included in the recall:

970 Volvo EX30 units from the 2025–2026 model years, and 614 Volvo EX30 Cross Country units from 2026.

All these vehicles come equipped with the Premium Sound audio system and were manufactured between August and November 2025.

The investigation began in October 2025 following initial reports. By January 2026, the matter was escalated to the Critical Concern Action Process (CCAP), and a recall decision was made on March 4. In the U.S., there have been 11 warranty claims and two field reports tied to this defect.

As part of the campaign, dealers will replace damaged terminals in the audio module connector at no cost. Dealers received notifications on March 11, and owners will get letters by April 3, 2026. VIN numbers became available for checking on March 13.
