General Motors has launched a program to replace charging accessory adapters for its electric vehicles. The campaign, with internal index N252541510, involves the GM NACS Level 2 adapter, which enables charging for EVs with a J1772 connector via the NACS standard plug.

The company identified a possible quality defect in some adapters sold with vehicles or through dealerships. The scale of the issue is extremely small, with only nine potentially affected devices recorded in the U.S.

Dealers have been instructed to check their inventory records and contact owners who purchased this accessory. Customers will be offered a free exchange of the old adapter for an updated version.

This campaign may apply to owners of several GM EV models, including the Cadillac Lyriq from 2023 to 2026, Chevrolet Blazer EV from 2024 to 2026, GMC Hummer EV from 2022 to 2026, and the upcoming Cadillac Vistiq for 2026.

The replacement procedure takes just a few minutes. Dealers are required to collect the old adapter and provide the owner with the new device version. The service program will run until March 31, 2028, and applies to vehicles regardless of mileage.

Interestingly, the list of models also includes the Cadillac Optiq for 2026, even though this EV already comes with a standard NACS port. This detail suggests the adapter might have been supplied with some vehicles as an optional accessory at the time of sale.
