Geely has officially revealed the name of its first full-fledged off-roader: the Galaxy Cruiser 700. Targeting the premium segment, this model aims to strengthen the brand's position in the rapidly growing class of 'smart' SUVs.Interestingly, the name was chosen by users themselves. The company ran a large-scale campaign that gathered over 50,000 suggestions. This is part of a new strategy among Chinese brands to build a loyal community around their products. On the technical side, the model promises serious capability. It features a ladder-frame chassis and a three-motor all-wheel-drive system. The vehicle comes with an intelligent torque distribution system that automatically switches drive modes based on conditions.Other highlights include adaptive suspension, a 'crab walk' mode, and a wading depth of up to 800 mm—a level close to that of classic off-roaders. The presence of a lidar sensor points to advanced driver-assistance systems and integration of autonomous driving functions. The model has already undergone testing in extreme conditions, including cold-weather trials in Sweden, and continues with global validation. The launch of the Galaxy Cruiser 700 confirms an important trend: the off-road segment is rapidly going digital. Where mechanical prowess and capability were once the key parameters, algorithms, sensors, and computing power are now joining the mix. The result is a new type of vehicle where off-road capability and digital technology evolve in parallel, rather than competing with each other.
