Geely has begun actively entering the Spanish market in 2026, opening its first dealerships and launching sales of electrified models. The lineup already includes the electric SUV E5 with a range of up to 475 km and the hybrid Starray EM-i with 262 hp, priced from €37,490 and €33,490 respectively. This matters because the brand is strengthening its presence in Europe and directly competing with BYD, MG, and other Chinese marques.

Where Geely Has Opened Dealerships

The company is actively building a dealer network across Spain to ensure sales and service of its vehicles. Partnerships have already been signed and outlets opened in key regions, including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, and the north of the country. In Madrid, there are three centers—in Majadahonda, Alcorcón, and Leganés—highlighting the priority given to the capital region.

Additional dealers are operating in Zaragoza, Burgos, Valladolid, the Balearic Islands, and Asturias, creating broad coverage. In Barcelona, a showroom is open in the La Maquinista area, while in Valencia there are two sites with a local partner. This strategy mirrors the approach of other Chinese brands, which first establish infrastructure before scaling up sales.

The first model is the Geely E5, a C-segment electric crossover with 218 hp and a WLTP range of up to 475 km. It can charge from 30% to 80% in about 20 minutes, putting it on par with competitors in this segment. With a starting price of €37,490, it becomes a direct rival to MG and base versions of the Volkswagen ID.

The second model to hit the market is the Starray EM-i hybrid crossover, with a combined output of 262 hp and an electric range of up to 130 km. Its total WLTP range reaches 943 km, and the powertrain was developed jointly with Renault through the Horse Powertrain joint venture. Priced from €33,490, the model targets the mass market and competes with the Kia Sportage and MG HS.

Significance for Europe

Spain was chosen deliberately, as the market shows high interest in new brands and electrified vehicles. Geely is essentially following the strategy of BYD and MG, offering accessible technology and rapidly expanding its dealer network. This increases pressure on European manufacturers, especially in the affordable crossover segment.

For the global market, this confirms the trend of Chinese brand expansion into the EU through mass-market models with competitive pricing. For Russia, it is indirectly important, since Geely already holds strong positions there, and European developments could later influence local versions. Overall, the company is enhancing global synergy between markets.
