Mercedes-AMG is preparing to unveil the new electric GT Berlina. According to overseas media, the car will be shown on 19 May. It is not a straight follow-up to the petrol version, but a stand-alone electric performance model with a new design and a different technical base.
The car's exterior partly echoes the AMG GT XX concept. The prototypes are credited with a very low drag coefficient — 0.198. Up front, big lighting elements with the Mercedes star are expected, while the overall styling is meant to break clearly with the previous combustion AMG GT.
The interior has already been partly shown. The dashboard houses three displays, the centre tunnel is finished in carbon fibre, and the layout features four separate seats. The rear row is set up for two passengers, with individual seats and power adjustment.
Underpinning the car is the new AMG.EA platform, developed for high-performance EVs. The same architecture will be used for the upcoming electric AMG SUV, due in 2027. According to preliminary figures, the powertrain may produce more than 1,000 hp, with the top version reaching around 1,360 hp and up to 1,500 Nm.
Driving range is targeted at up to 630 km on the WLTP cycle. Fast charging is part of the pitch as well: roughly 15 minutes from 10 to 80 percent on a 400 kW charger. Among the high-performance debuts of 2026, the new GT Berlina stands out not only for sheer output, but for the attempt to keep AMG's emotional pull alive via a synthesised V8 soundtrack.
