The Tesla Model S, which has been the benchmark for electric sedans for nearly 14 years, will be discontinued next quarter. The segment won't disappear without it—competitors have long been ready to fill the void, offering comparable performance, comfort, and range.

The most obvious successor is the Lucid Air. In Touring and Grand Touring versions, it combines a luxurious interior with impressive range. The Touring covers 431 miles, surpassing the Model S AWD, while costing significantly less. The Grand Touring adds comfort and a three-second 0-60 time—without needing to splurge on the extreme Sapphire variant.

BMW i7

The BMW i7 is the choice for those who prioritize quietness and status over acceleration. It's slower than the Tesla but noticeably more comfortable, more technologically advanced, and richer in its appointments. Panoramic ambient lighting, soft-close doors, and top-tier materials emphasize that this is first and foremost a new-era luxury sedan.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS takes a similar approach: exceptional acoustic insulation, a smooth ride, and a focus on creating a 'living room' feel inside. Its range falls short of the Tesla's, and the design remains polarizing, but in terms of perceived luxury, the EQS is close to the S-Class.
