Chevrolet continues to expand its lineup of electrified models in South America. In Ecuador, the company has officially launched the new 2026 Captiva PHEV, a hybrid version of the compact crossover that hits the market just a month and a half after the debut of the all-electric Captiva EV.According to Oswaldo León, managing director of GM Ecuador, the arrival of the Captiva PHEV marks a key step in the regional electrification strategy. The company points to growing demand for vehicles that allow a gradual transition to fully electric transport while maintaining the familiar format for long-distance travel. The new model is available exclusively in the top-tier Premier trim. Standard equipment includes advanced driver assistance systems and a large 15.6-inch multimedia touchscreen—one of the biggest in the segment. Notably, in Ecuador, the PHEV version is positioned above the electric Captiva EV, unlike the strategy in Chile, where both variants are presented as equals. The hybrid powertrain combines a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor. Together, the system delivers 204 horsepower, providing confident power for daily driving and highway use. The electric motor is powered by a 20.5 kWh LFP battery, which enables up to 90 km of electric-only range. The total driving range exceeds 1,000 km, making the Captiva PHEV one of the longest-range hybrids in the regional segment.Sales have already begun at Chevrolet dealerships across the country. The current price is set at $32,999—the official currency of Ecuador.
