Chinese company Dreame Technology, best known for its robot vacuums, has made a bold move into the automotive industry by launching the Star Motor brand and its first generation of electric SUVs. However, the vehicles themselves were somewhat overshadowed by a provocative statement from Dreame founder Yu Hao, who predicted that Tesla would vanish from the market within 20 years, similar to how American iRobot was absorbed by Chinese competitors.

The Star Motor brand debuted with three models: the Star T08 off-roader, its more rugged T08L variant, and the flagship six-seat Star D09, which is presented as an ultra-luxury SUV concept with clear aspirations to rival the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The technology on display underscores the company's ambitions: the "Super Chassis Technology" system features rear-axle steering with up to 24 degrees of articulation, a four-motor all-wheel-drive setup, and an active suspension designed for extreme conditions.

The Star D09 garnered particular attention for its "self-learning energy recovery system." According to the company, this system boosts energy regeneration efficiency by 18%, improves consumption adaptation by 30%, and increases high-speed range by 12%.

Despite Yu Hao's aggressive rhetoric, none of the unveiled models directly competes with Tesla. Dreame is instead focusing on premium SUVs and off-road platforms. The strategy is clear: the newcomer is using bold pronouncements to capture attention amid Tesla's challenges in China and the intensifying competitive landscape.
