The Chinese automotive group Geely has secured a significant technological approval in Europe. Its G-ASD driver assistance system has been certified under European standards, paving the way for its use in vehicles sold across the EU market.

According to the company, cars equipped with G-ASD can now be sold in certain European countries without needing additional local certification. This marks the first time a Chinese-developed driver assistance system has received such authorization in the European Union.

The first vehicle featuring this new technology is expected to hit European roads as early as June. Currently, the system is only used in models sold in China, but plans are now in place to roll it out to international markets as well.

The technology is likely to be installed in vehicles from several brands under the Geely umbrella, including Geely Auto, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, and Lotus. Specific models and launch timelines for each brand have not yet been disclosed.

For the Chinese automaker, obtaining European certification represents a crucial milestone. In recent years, Chinese carmakers have been actively advancing driver assistance and autonomous driving systems, aiming to compete with leading technological developments from European and American companies.

Geely's entry into the European market could intensify competition in the smart vehicle control systems segment, which has long been dominated by manufacturers from the U.S., Germany, and Japan. For Chinese brands, this also signals a growing international recognition of their automotive technologies.
