Honda and its premium division Acura have long occupied the upper reaches of reliability rankings. In Consumer Reports’ 2025 assessment, Acura took fifth place, edging past familiar names like Mazda, Audi, BMW, Kia, and Hyundai. The top spot went to Subaru, which ranked ahead of Lexus, Toyota, and Honda—an order that keeps Acura firmly in the top tier while highlighting Subaru’s current lead.

Drilling down to models, the 2025 Acura MDX and the RDX stood out as the brand’s most dependable entries this year. The RDX earns a slightly higher reliability rating, yet both received strong scores overall, suggesting buyers can choose based on preference without worrying about a major gap in durability.

There’s good news for used-car shoppers as well. A separate Consumer Reports survey that analyzed more than 150,000 vehicles places Acura among the most reliable pre-owned brands to buy. Lexus and Toyota take first and second, with Mazda in third. Honda ranks fourth in the used-car list, and Acura follows in fifth—positioning the luxury marque just behind its mainstream sibling and adding confidence for those eyeing the secondhand market.
