South African company Bushwakka has unveiled the Kamelback 4 camper built on the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 Series Double Cab. The conversion accommodates four sleepers and is designed for long off-road journeys where ground clearance matters as much as the ability to spend the night inside the vehicle.

The new version is based on the earlier two-person Kamelback. The main difference is an extra upper bed mounted above the standard queen-size sleeping area. To make room for it, the section above the cab was extended by roughly 500 mm. The upper bed measures around 135 by 180 cm, and the module itself weighs about 750 kg.

The camper’s equipment includes a kitchen area with a bamboo worktop, storage for crockery and supplies, a fridge-freezer compartment, LED lighting, a 100-Ah lithium battery and a DC-DC charger. A 380-W roof-mounted solar panel is available as an option. The Bushwakka website lists the Kamelback 4 at 546,924 South African rand — about 33,000 US dollars. The Toyota Land Cruiser donor vehicle is not included.
