Carbon-fiber wheels, previously offered as a pricey option on the 2024 and 2025 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, will no longer be available for the 2026 model year. In effect, buyers lose the chance to specify the lightweight, durable carbon rims for their cars—and some enthusiasts will miss that weight-saving upgrade.

From 2026, the Ford Mustang Dark Horse will be offered exclusively with standard and special aluminum alloy wheels. The unique carbon choice is gone, but the factory alloys remain high-quality pieces with a design that still looks the part.

Ford isn’t abandoning the engineering behind lightweight carbon wheels altogether. The technology stays in the brand’s plans, with the next-generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 set to be equipped with these wheels.

Beyond removing the carbon option, the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse will see other changes. The base specification is being revised, including a trimmed list of equipment—an effort aimed at controlling manufacturing costs and lowering the vehicle’s price. The lineup of exterior colors will also be updated.
