A new price record for the BMW Z8 family was set at the BH Auction in Tokyo on January 9–10, 2026. The lot, a 2003 ALPINA Roadster V8, sold for 78,810,000 yen, equivalent to about 38.8 million rubles.The car sold, chassis number 295, has only 1,200 km on the odometer. The description highlighted its near-new condition and verified history, even though it wasn't a single-owner vehicle.The BMW Z8 was produced in a limited run of around 5,700 units. The ALPINA version is much rarer, with just 555 Roadster V8 models worldwide. According to the auction, only 18 of these cars were officially delivered to Japan, and this example was imported through Nicol Automobiles, the ALPINA distributor in the country.Technically, the Roadster V8 differs from the standard Z8: it uses a 4.8-liter F5 engine (381 horsepower, 520 Nm) and a 5-speed automatic transmission instead of the S62 and manual gearbox. The ALPINA version claims a top speed of 260 km/h, compared to the standard Z8's limited 250 km/h.
