Lunaz, known for restomodding classic British cars with electric powertrains, has taken an unexpected turn. The company's 50th project—an Aston Martin DB6—marks the first time it hasn't used electrification, instead opting for a new gasoline engine. The original 4.0-liter unit has been replaced by a 5.0-liter inline-six producing 350 horsepower, which significantly boosts the classic coupe's dynamic potential.Technical changes go beyond the engine: Lunaz has reworked the suspension, upgraded the braking system, and recalibrated the steering. The client who ordered the first car in the First Edition series requested a bespoke look—the body is painted in a special green hue, widened arches emphasize the new proportions, and gold accents create a jewel-like effect. The interior showcases another level of customization. Instead of typical retro trim, there's a blend of silver hardware, mother-of-pearl inlays, cashmere, suede, and leather. Lunaz emphasizes that this project allowed them to apply accumulated racing and engineering expertise, including solutions from Formula 1.The company has weathered a challenging period, closing its commercial vehicle division, but the gasoline-powered DB6 symbolizes the start of a "new chapter." Lunaz declares a shift to a "neutral approach" to powertrains, where electrification and internal combustion become equal options. According to company head David Lorenz, the brand's mission remains unchanged: preserving legends and giving them a second life with modern technology.
