Rumors are swirling around Bugatti once again, this time about a project that hardly fits the label of a mere special edition. According to SPEEDME.RU, the brand could prepare a one-off anniversary hypercar inspired by the Veyron and reveal it on January 22, 2026—exactly 20 years after the first production Veyron left Molsheim.

The logic is hard to dispute: the Veyron marked a turning point for the entire hypercar segment. It cemented the idea that extreme speed can coexist with comfort, reliability, and luxury. It also did what once seemed impossible for a road car in the mid-2000s: four-figure power and a top speed beyond 400 km/h. Even alongside the Chiron and the newer Tourbillon, the Veyron remains one of Bugatti’s defining symbols—proof that engineering bravado can wear a tailored suit.

Word is the newcomer will be part of the Solitaire program, under which Bugatti pledged to build no more than two one-off models per year. That raises the main question: what will underpin this anniversary homage? The most likely scenario is a Chiron-based build with the W16, since Solitaire is designed around existing chassis and powertrains. The alternative sounds even more romantic: take the original Veyron platform and essentially rebuild it with updated components while preserving the model’s character. The latter would tug at purist heartstrings, though the Chiron route feels the more pragmatic path to a flawless result.

The idea has already been teased indirectly at a private Bugatti event in Molsheim marking the Veyron’s 20th anniversary, where guests received miniature Veyrons and a brand designer sketched live during dinner. Rumor has it the visual treatment could nod to the early Veyron 16.4 with red-and-black paint, a beige interior, and aluminum accents—a tasteful homage if done with restraint.
